ETC Ranks Amongst the Top 3June 14, 2016
The ETC facility was rated amongst the top 3 technologically advanced foundries in the world. The integrated facility incorporated cutting edge engineering and design lab, pattern making, the world’s largest automatic moulding line, vacuum oxygen Argon de-gassing steel refining furnace, CNC machine shop and R & D lab. The centre became capable of producing exotic steel casting and large steel castings up to 15 tonnes weight per piece.

The aim of the foundation is to enable active engagement with the society and to be socially responsible for the upliftment of the under-privileged. The Faizal & Shabana Foundation started supporting the Sports and Education Promotion Trust (SEPT). Instituted in 2004 the trust was established in Kozhikode, Kerala, to promote sports education and development in India, with a focus on football. Today it has 41 centres called ‘football nurseries’ spread across 11 districts in Kerala. SEPT also conducts targeted sports initiatives to hunt for the talented yet less privileged children from rural, tribal and coastal areas.

The Faizal & Shabana Foundation contributed to the TERI initiative by the Nobel Prize winner Dr. Rajendra Pachauri through “Light a Billion Lives” campaign. The aim of the campaign was to replace kerosene lanterns in villages with an eco-friendly solar alternative. The support benefitted more than 65 villages spread across Orissa, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It impacted around 16,000 lives that now have access to clean and reliable lighting facilities.

Sale to Tyco International ConcludesJune 14, 2016
The remainder of the 25% stake in KEF Holdings was sold to Tyco International, completing the transaction and making the total sale value a 100 million USD. Later in the year, Pentair, an industrial giant acquired Tyco and established ETC as its Middle East headquarters. They renamed the ETC Community Centre as the Shabana and Faizal Community Centre in recognition of success and dedication of the founders to the community at large.

120-Year-Old Government School in Kerala Refurbished and UpgradedJune 14, 2016
Refurbishment and upgrade of the 120-year-old Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls’ in Nadakkavu in Kozhikode, Kerala was undertaken by the Faizal & Shabana Foundation. New classrooms, toilets, a multipurpose hall, interactive science center, astro-turf covered sports field and library were constructed in less than 10 months time using precast technology at a total project cost of 14 Crores INR. This project was taken up under the PRISM (Promoting Regional Schools to International Standards through Multiple Interventions) initiative. It is a partnership with the Government of Kerala to make the school upgrade a pilot project that can be replicated in Government schools across Kerala, and all over India.

The facility is LEED certified and manufactures precast elements (hollow core slabs, beams, columns, wall panels, staircases, balconies), prefabricated bathrooms, joinery and aluminium glazing.

KEF Infra built the Accommodation Block of the B.K.S Iyengar Yoga Retreat Center in Bellur, Karnataka. The project was completed in a record 5.5 months. It is spread across 5,900 sq ft with 10 rooms capable of accommodating 40 people.
Relief and Rehabilitation Efforts for Victims of Tamil Nadu FloodJune 14, 2016
In its efforts to bring relief to the flood stricken people of coastal Tamil Nadu, The Faizal & Shabana Foundation mobilized a flood relief drive in the state. Members of the Faizal & Shabana Foundation toured the worst affected areas of the state and organised a relief camp at Cuddalore, where relief kits & materials were given to the suffering villagers. KEF employees, from across business verticals, pitched in with monetary contributions to aid in the relief and rehabilitation work. The Faizal & Shabana Foundation also matched the contributions made by the employees to provide a further boost to the relief efforts and was able to generate over 17 lakh INR for the cause.

Tech giant Infosys appoints KEF Infra as their design and build partner for two prestigious projects. One is the development of their new office complex in Electronic City – Phase II, Bangalore. The project spread across 5.3 lakh sq.ft features an office block, multi-level car park and service building and is due to be completed in a short 7 months. The other is the creation of a landmark – a clock tower for Infosys’s Mysore campus, which will not only be the world’s tallest clock tower, but also the tallest tower to be built using off-site construction technology.
